The Oilers came close to winning the Stanley Cup last season. If not for an unlucky event that forced them to go to a backup goalie, they may have made a run at it. Well, the Oilers want to get back there and it starts with Coach Craig MacTavish. According to reports, MacTavish and the Oilers have agreed on a deal to keep in him Oilers territory.

MacTavish has six seasons in the books with the Oilers. Overall he is a winning coach. The official news conference has not been held yet, but sources say that it will be for four years. His stock is on the rise everywhere. MacTavish may be a candidate for the coaching job of Team Canada in the 2010 winter games. Those games will be held in Vancouver, Canada.
